Our Impact

 ypi is an idea.
That grant-making can be inclusive and transformative for communities and young people.

ypi is a program.
Where youth, schools, charities, and funders work together to support social services through grants & public awareness.

ypi is a platform.
For motivating, deepening, and scaling meaningful interactions between people & the social purpose sector.

Every year, we measure the social outcomes that students, charities, schools, and funders create by participating in YPI. Together they've shown us what's possible when young people are empowered to make meaningful, lasting change in their communities.

This year over 8,000 secondary school students delivered over 2,000 presentations and taught thousands of people across Canada about urgent social issues and the vital work of local charities. But the numbers are just the tip of the iceberg.

See what happens when you invest in compassionate communities in our 2016 Impact Report!

We are seeking social change champions to join YPI's mission, extend our impact, and meet growing demand from schools across Canada.

For every $5K grant awarded to a local charity through the YPI process:

  • A registered charity receives $5,000 to meet immediate community needs
  • An entire grade of secondary students have had inclusive access to an award-winning experiential project that builds their essential skills, empathy and character
  • Approximately three dozen charities will have received advocacy and awareness, and have been connected with engaged and motivated young people
  • 1,000 additional community members will have learned about social issues and local social services from students.

"Thank you for providing such a brilliant project
that is at the forefront of education.
I have been teaching for 30 years
and I have never seen
a project work so effectively across an entire grade that
empowers youth to gain skills for their future and
at the same time
promotes empathy and caring.
It is truly a recipe for success!”

- Marilyn Nunn, YPI Teacher from BC

We acknowledge that YPI Canada’s office is on the territory of the Mississaugas of New Credit, the Haudenosaunee, the Anishnaabe and the Huron-Wendat. The traditional territory named Tkaronto has been a site of human activity for over 15,000 years and, today, is still home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on their territory and commit ourselves to the work of reconciliation.
